Explorer Scouts is a new section for young people aged between 14 and 18 years old. It open to both male and female members and makes up the fourth section of the Scouting family. Bromsgrove Explorer Scouts started in January 2003 and we now have three units plus a Young Leaders Unit.
14 - 18 is a busy time during the life of a young person, Explorer Scouts is designed to be flexible and will fit around exams and work. Explorer Scouts also get the chance to work with other local Explorer Units, not just the other Bromsgrove Units, but also those in Redditch, Worcester or Birmingham. By doing this, they get the chance to do many more activities, not just the ones their own unit organises. Explorer Scouts have the opportunity to gain badges and awards including the Duke of Edinburgh's award scheme.
At the age of 18 Explorer Scouts will
progress to Scout Network and can also join Active
Support. Young leaders also have
the opportunity to become warranted leaders at this time. Bromsgrove Network are
currently running a competition to design a new logo, this is open to all to all
current Explorer Scouts and you could win £20 in shopping vouchers.
